Pentatonix's Kirstin Maldonado -- now known as simply kirstin -- has always been inspired by bad ass women in the pop punk scene.

"My mom got me a lot of their CDs just because she wanted to show me really incredible, strong women," the singer tells Billboard. "It was kind of a departure from the bubbly pop scene that was going on [in the early 2000s]. There was a bit of grit to them."

On Avril Lavigne: "Avril really helped pave the way for merging two different genres of music. It was such a departure of what was popular at that time."

On Gwen Stefani: "Gwen Stefani was just the most incredible frontwoman. She was the total cool girl."

On P!nk: "Besides her incredible stage presence and her signature, unique and amazing voice and talent, she's an artist that gives back. She wants to share her confidence and that power she brings with her to everyone in need."
